William Shakespeare Tour Program
Day 1
– Meet your guide and depart the hotel for your 3 day Shakespeare tour. Visit to the Globe Theatre, a theatre dedicated to the exploration of William Shakespeare’s work. Enjoy a fascinating backstage guided tour of the theatre as well as the Globe Theatre Experience, which brings Shakespeare’s world to life, including details associated with costumes in Shakespeare’s time, special effects and rebuilding the Globe. Next visit the National Theatre where you will have another backstage tour. The National houses three theatres and presents a mixture of both new and classic plays. Lunch (at own cost) will be at the George Inn, where Shakespeare himself used to drink and come to watch plays on a regular basis. In the afternoon you will enjoy a walking tour along the Bankside as your guide explains theatre life in Shakespeare’s time and how it has evolved over the years. Depart London for your Stratford-upon-Avon hotel. Overnight Stratford.
Day 2 – After breakfast depart with your guide for your full day tour of Stratford-upon-Avon. The morning will be spent visiting Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Mary Arden’s House, William Shakespeare’s mother. After this you will have a walking tour in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon. Lunch (at own cost) will be in the town centre. After lunch you will have a panoramic tour which will include the King Edward VI Grammar school, where Shakespeare studied, and the Holy Trinity Church where he was baptized. Next visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, the pre-marital home of Williams Shakespeare’s wife. Dinner at own cost. In the evening you will have the option of enjoying a theatre performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company. Overnight Stratford
Day 3 – After breakfast depart your hotel with your guide for Oxford. In the morning you will have a guided tour of Oxford city centre which will include the town hall and old part of the town. You will then have a tour of the Bodleian Library, the main research library for the University of Oxford and first opened in 1602. After your visit to the library enjoy some free time for lunch and to wander through the main streets of the town. In the afternoon visit the Christ Church Cathedral, the Great Hall, Christ Church and Trinity colleges. Depart with your guide for your return to London.
