Day 1
– Early morning departure from central Brussels for our drive to the U.S. Military Cemetery in Hamm.We will hold a wreath laying ceremony and pause to pay our respects to the fallen, including the late General George S. Patton Jr. then move north to the Luxembourg National Military History Museum in Diekirch. Dinner and overnight in Bastogne.
Day 2 – This morning we head east to Dasburg on the Our River and the central of three bridging sites across the Our in the Fifth Panzer Army sector. We continue through Antoniushof, Fe'itsch, Longvilly, Magaret and Neffe before visiting the Mardasson monument and the Bastogne Historical Center. This afternoon, we visit important sites around Bastogne including Noville, Foy, the Bois Jaques (made famous in "Band of Brothers") Hemroulle, Marvie. Overnight in Bastogne.
Day 3 - Today we visit areas of the Hurtgen forest conflict. This includes the villages of Hurtgen and Kleinhau, assigned to the 8th Infantry Division in their struggle to control the Brandenberg-Bergstein ridge and secure a route through the Brandenberger Wald. We then follow the fateful objective of the 9th Division and then the 28th Division attack through Germeter, Vossenack, Kommerscheidt and the town of Schmidt, which was to change hands several times during the intense battle. This includes the infamous Kall Trail, a simple cart track that became the only main supply route to the divisions. At Vossenack you will also have the opportunity of visiting the German “Windhund” Cemetery and the final resting-place of Generalfeldmarschall Walter Model commander of Army Group “B”. Back into Belgium to visit the Henri Chapelle US Militery Cemetery and a private museum. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – This morning, we drive via the Schnee Eifel to the Losheim Gap where we begin our visit of the North Shoulder. We take in part of the much vaunted "Siegfried Line" or "Westwall". Our itinerary takes us to two of the principal attack routes of 6th Panzer Army the so-called "Rollbahns A + B". We visit Lanzerath, Losheimergraben, Buchholz and Krinkelt - Rocherath before heading for the Elsenborn Ridge. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – Today, we follow the attack route of "Kampfgruppe Peiper" spearhead of the German attack. En route we take in Bűllingen, Mőderscheid and listen to a survivor's account of the infamous "Malmedy Massacre”. We continue though Ligneuville and Vaux Richard to Stavelot then Trois Ponts scene of a valiant stand by U.S. Engineer troops in their attempts to stop Peiper. Late afternoon return to Brussels.
