DAY 1 - Morning departure from London and Paris for Normandy and through the British and Canadian 6th airborne drop zones to Ranville and visit the British military cemetery and church. To the landing zone where three gliders landed to take the Pegasus bridge and the Gondree cafe.To Bayeux, a historic Norman town and home to the Bayeux Tapestry, commemorating the Norman invasion of Britain in 1066. Your guide will advise you of the best restaurants from the many available and assist you with your choice of menus throughout the weekend. You may also be introduced to local people with personal stories of the 1944 Invasion. Bed and breakfast accommodation.
DAY 2 - Following breakfast we drive to The Pointe du Hoc with its bomb craters, captured by the men of the US 2nd Ranger Battalion. We drive down the Vierville Draw to the 29th Division sector of Bloody OMAHA Beach. Along to the 1st Division sector and monument with the names of three Medal of honor recipients, after which we pay our respects to the fallen in the US Military Cemetery at St Laurent sur Mer. The Le Chaos German Gun Battery housing its original guns. We visit Arromanches, location of one of the two "Mulberry" Harbors built by the Allies and shipped in parts across the English Channel. DAY 3 - After breakfast we drive through the 101st Airborne drop zones C and D then onto the Division command post. The Brecourt Manor captured by E Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. To UTAH Beach, which General Bradley, the then commander of the US First Army later referred to as "the great success story of D-Day". Ste Mere Eglise; the US Airborne Museum and 13th century church with its Airborne stained window before driving to the nearby monument at La Fiere bridgehead. Return to London or Paris.
